Ranks

The Collective is run by the Executors and Officers, with any important decisions usually reached in a consensus between all of the officers based on feedback given by guild members. The officers work together to guide the overall direction of the guild and its actions.

Guild Master

The loveable, well-respected figurehead of the guild.

Executor

The founding members of The Collective, who manage the administrative direction of the guild. They deal with the 'big picture' stuff like disciplinary action, inter-guild relationships, planning and carrying out with large events, and more.

Officer

Officers of The Collective are core members who carry out the direction of the guild. They are often responsible for organizing events or instance runs. They help by leading guild members, answering questions, and with other general leadership tasks.

Captain

This rank includes the individual class heads as well as organizational heads for aspects like PvE, PvP, and Recruitment. Captains are trusted, core members of the guild who have taken on additional responsibility to lead and challenge their fellow members.

Champion

By proving oneself to be an exceptional person and player in both PvE and PvP, helping others, and embodying the aspects of the guild charter, players will be granted the rank of Champion. Champions are level 60 characters.

Elite

While being a Member means you are truly a part of The Collective, becoming an Elite means you have proven to the guild that you are trustworthy, an awesome player and person, and that you are here to have fun. Elite members must be active on the forums.

Member

This is the basic membership rank of The Collective. Once you have proven yourself to the guild that "you're in it for the long haul", you will be promoted to Member. Members are level 40, have purchased their mounts, and have passed their probationary period at Initiate rank.

Initiate

Initiate is the rank given to applicants and new recruits to The Collective, and is a "trial rank" designed give the guild time to assess what kind of person and player you are. After a period of review, if you have proven yourself, you will be extended full membership into the guild.

Alt

This rank is for alt characters.

Slorg

Slorg The lowest rank, not permitted to speak in guild chat. Being demoted to Slorg is a definitive sign that you are doing something wrong.

Promotion

There are no defined ways to get promoted, but here are some ways to get noticed:

Type properly
A majority of the founders of the guild spend 25 hours a day on the internet. We've seen our share of ROFLers or ROFLMAOers to know that you're probably not actually rolling on the floor laughing, and that your ass is still intact. We're also adults, and once you turn 21, it hurts to read dudespeak and l33tspeak. Also, not everyone wants to read swears and vulgarity. Swearing is not prohibited in guild chat, just be considerate.

Be active on the forum!!
We've got a really good resource here so let's take advantage of it! Check the news on the front page, post on the forums, link to a good guide you've found, or take advantage of the awesome photo gallery we have set up. The more we see of you the more we can judge how cool you are =)

Take advantage of our Ventrilo server
We have another great resource at our disposal, so it should always be crammed with guildies. For those who do use it, props are given to people who use it effectively. This includes being in appropriate channels for appropriate activities. Check out the guild forum announcement/sticky for connection information.

Help people out
Giving someone a few coins, green items, reagents, potions, recipes, schematics, making people stuff. Offer up items to guild chat before you put them on the AH. Give your trash to an Enchanter to disenchant.

Participate!
Coming to save the day by helping with annoying Horde, joining guild events, doing instances with other players, going on patrols. Y'know, the whole point of being in a guild.

Don't beg
This is a pretty big one. Don't ask for money, to be power leveled. People will be more inclined to help you if they know you are in the guild for more then your own personal gains. Plus if you ask for something, for free, that another guild member has been working for very hard, that might not go over well. We all had to work for our levels and money, and so do you.

Don't whine
If you're getting killed over and over by horde, getting corpse camped for an hour, and are unable to quest in a certain zone because of this, we are going to be more inclined to help you if you are mature about it. This is a PvP game, and we play on a PvP server. All of the high levels have all been there, and know what it's like.

Don't brag
Loot and PvP is part of the game. Getting phat loots just takes luck and time. Getting phat PvP kills is just part of the game. This doesn't mean you aren't allowed to talk about any of the above, again, just be considerate. Excessively linking epix in guild chat or bragging about how much you pwn horde will only end up in us making fun of you. =P

Crafting expectations
If you want someone to make something for you, ask around and see if a crafter can, and what reagents they need to make the item. Don't expect them to drop what they are doing and hand-deliver it to you, either.

Pull your own weight!
Don't assume that the world stops when you need help with a quest, or need a bag made. Even when you hit 60, you still are working to get phat lewts or raise bling for your epic mount. Assume that people will offer help when they want to. If you're having a hard time doing a quest, ask for help from people around your level, so you all get good XP.

You play on a PvP server!
Rolling a character on a PvP server generally waives your right to be overly upset for having a hard time with horde. Everyone is entitled to be frustrated or get upset with things like this happen, but don't go out of your way to look for sympathy, because you won't get it. We've all been there. Let the guild know and they will come help.

Uphold the guild's public image!
We have worked hard to keep our guild's reputation clean and positive. We are respected by Alliance and Horde alike, and are well known. Keep in mind that anything you do or say, good or bad, in the game reflects on the guild. Drama is thick in the game, and people are quick to dismiss or judge an entire guild by a single person's action.

Don't be greedy
Only take items that you WILL use, not just CAN use. If nobody can use the item, then make a greed roll to see who gets to keep and sell the item by typing /random 1-100. The winner is the number closest to 100. Also, be considerate of Enchanters, (and they should be considerate, too)
